Research Proposal- Motivators for Social Media Activism

This is a research proposal done in collaboration with Annie Gao, Julliette Giron, Octavian Gherghe and Valeria Suing. It seeks to understand how people relate to social media activism (SMA) in an increasingly digital age. As this medium of activism will only increase in popularity, we wish to see how students at OCAD U understand their own relationship with SMA, the motivators behind their participation, or lack-there-of.

Stepping back and recognizing that this content is connected to each individual's construction of their digital persona, there are many aspects that come into play. Money, time, identity, vulnerability, and social standing are all factors that must be considered in the research.

This proposal includes a motivation statement, background information, research questions, objectives, methodology, sample description, hypothesis synthesis, principles and ethics deep-dive, project timeline, and appendix (including over 15 academic sources).
