Co-design Workshop Facilitation at CogSci 2022 Conference

Perceptual Artifacts Lab Member

April 2022- Present

Through my participation, I have helped facilitate the lab's workshop at the 2022 Cognitive Science conference. This hybrid workshop was a co-design session for the re-design of ICTs at the intersection of design, accessibility, and Cognitive Science. I guided a retrospective ethnography session so the participants could recall ICT touchpoints throughout the pandemic. It was extended low-fi design proposals addressing the pain points within ICTs. Documentation can be found in conference proceedings here.

Ontario Tech Research Assistant

I designed a tangible user interface, which would serve as a VR controller for people with Dementia. This is a continuation of work lead by Dr. Winnie Sun and Alvaro Quevedo. See the original publication here

For this I did an academic scoping reviewstoryboardingonline ethnography, and an environmental scan. We have used agile practices to iterate on the design using the expertise of the different research participants, and the project is ongoing (as such, documentation cannot be provided, references may be provided upon request).

OCAD and CNIB Research Assistant

This is larger research project involving the CNIB, OCAD, Ontario Tech and SenseTech under Accessibility Standards Canada (ASC).

I will be researching accessibility for Visually Impaired and Autism within the context of information and communications technology, as well as designing and prototyping interfaces. I will also be co-facilitating a co-design session at an upcoming conference at Ontario Teach arranged by the CNIB.
